On a warm summery day we packed our bags and set off for Finland. We headed to Helsinki to visit the designer Ristomatti Ratia.<\/h4>\n

Ristomatti Ratia has been working as a designer for fifty years now. Many of his works have gained the status of design classic. Ristomatti\u2019s parents,\u00a0 Father Viljo and mother Armi Ratia, are the founders of world-famous Finnish brand Marimekko.<\/p>\n

When in Helsinki, we had a chance to visit Ratia\u2019s studio and get to know the story behind his designs. Always having greater passion towards the material glass, all the shelves in the studio were filled with vases and other glasswork art in different shapes and colors. Ristomatti\u2019s own favorite of his works is the Palaset multi-purpose storage system. Designed in 70s the Palaset was very forward-looking and innovational idea at that time. Lately, the Finnish Chambers of Commerce gave Ristomatti Ratia the badge of merit. The Medal for Extraordinary Achievement.<\/p>\n

We also visited Ristomatti\u2019s home, which was exactly what designer\u2019s home should be like. Soft furniture designed by Le Corbusier, walls covered with great art and shelves stuffed with inspiring literature. As a gift for Ristomatti, we enriched the stylish and designful home with our own easyLIGHT lamp.<\/p>\n
